Klaipeda port increases ship drafts

Following the deepening of the Klaipeda port area and overhauling of some quays, Adomas Alekna, the Harbor Master, has issued an order to increase the maximum permissible drafts to 13 meters at Berths No. 1 and 2 and to 13.4 meters at Berths No. 8 and 9, the Klaipeda.lt website has reported.

New possibilities have opened up after the port's navigation channel has been deepened to 14.5 meters and widened from 120 to 150 meters.

The Harbor Master's order allows vessels of up to 200 meters in length to pass each other in the navigation channel, but sets out certain additional conditions.
