Latvia’s Tilts fails to overturn Lithuanian Railways’ tender results

Latvia’s road and bridge building company Tilts has failed to overturn the results of the tender issued by Lietuvos Geležinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways) while the Lithuanian state-owned railway company has failed to convince the court to impose a 20,000-itas (EUR 5,797) fine on the Latvian company for unfair practices in contesting the results of the tender.

The Vilnius Regional Court made a decision in the case on January 22.

MO-24, the Lithuanian branch of Latvia’s Tilts, asked the court to overturn the results of the tender issued by Lietuvos Geležinkeliai for the repairs of the reinforced concrete viaduct across the rail line connecting Vilnius and Vievis.

The company, which saw its bid rejected, claimed that the railway operator modified the conditions of the tender without a valid reason two days before the expiry of its term.

Panevėžio Keliai (Panevėžys Roads) was selected as the winner of the tender. Other bidders included Tilta and Ukmergės Keliai (Ukmergė Roads).
