Latvia still awaits Lithuania's explanations about Visaginas Nuclear Power Plant

During a farewell meeting with US Ambassador to Latvia Judith Garber on Monday, Latvia's Economy Minister Daniels Pavluts said that Lithuania, where the planned nuclear power plant project is to be constructed, has not answered all of the strategically important questions regarding the project.

Latvia, therefore, is not prepared to rush into moving forward with the project, since energy companies of all three Baltic countries must still come to agreements in several areas.

As the minister's press secretary Daiga Grube informed business information portal Nozare.lv, during Monday's meeting, the minister informed the ambassador on the progress of the Visaginas Nuclear Power Plant project, as well as Latvia's possible participation in the project. The minister said that Latvia will make its decision based on commercial considerations, informs LETA.
