Dzintaja, the owner of a Dzintars franchise store that was opened last November in the Old Town of Kaunas, is considering opening stores in Vilnius and Druskininkai, the business daily Verslo Žinios reports.

The company has also opened an online store of Latvian natural cosmetics and fragrances. Arūnas Cmieliauskas, a co-owner of Dzintaja, says that online buyers usually purchase three to six products at a time, spending 50 litas (EUR 14.5) on average.

"What I can say now is that we are considering opening stores in Vilnius and Druskininkai. We are looking for retail space in shopping centers that attract large numbers of people. There will always be customers who like to do their shopping in a traditional store rather than online," he said.

Dzintars opened six stores in shopping malls in Lithuania's major cities in 2002, but the 150,000-litas investment was a failure and the Latvian producer was forced to pull out of the Lithuanian market due to competition from imported and local products.
