Economy Deputy Minister Daumantas Lapinskas told BNS that the authorities expected Poland to confirm the date of the panel’s meeting. The Poles were inclined to approve the resumption of the commission’s work, he added.
“We are now waiting for a confirmation from the Polish party when we could hold a meeting. I receivedt hints from them that they are inclined to approve the meeting. The goal is to strengthen economic cooperation between the countries,” Lapinskas said.
He would not speculate when the meeting could take place. The meeting’s agenda had not been decided on, either, he added.
The panel held its last meeting in Poland on 21 April, 2009.
Poland is one of Lithuania’s key trading partners. According to the data made available by Statistics Lithuania, last year Lithuania’s exports to Poland totaled 4.864 billion litas (EUR 1.4 bln) and amounted to 7 percent of the country’s total exports.
