Lithuania extends public sector pay freeze

Lithuanian politicians, judges, and public servants will not have their salaries rise next year after parliament voted on Thursday to keep the basic salary for the public sector unchanged at 450 litas (EUR 130.4).
Tris iš vienuolikos šiuo metu veikiančių seniūnijų prijungus prie kitų, dar labiau sumažėtų iš mokesčių mokėtojų kišenės išlaikomų tarnautojų skaičius.

The Seimas passed the respective amendment by a vote of 52 to two, with 28 abstentions.

The basic salary, which is used to calculate monthly wages of politicians, judges, state officials, public servants, and soldiers, was slashed from 490 litas to 450 litas in 2009 as part of public spending cuts during the economic crisis.
