Lithuania ranked world’s 36th most competitive economy

Switzerland’s International Institute for Management Development (IMD) has ranked Lithuania the world’s 36th most competitive economy this year, up nine notches from 2011, the Verslo Žinios business daily reports.

Lithuania ranks 27th among 59 economies around the world in terms of positive attitude toward economic and social reforms and 38th in terms of attitude toward globalization.

Estonia was ranked 31st on the list. Latvia has not been included in the survey. The top three countries include Hong Kong, the US and Switzerland.

Lausanne-based IMD has been measuring the countries’ competitiveness since 1989.
