Lithuania's average annual HICP inflation eases to 3.2 percent

Lithuania's average annual inflation rate, as measured by the EU Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), fell to 3.2 percent last year, from 4.1 percent in 2011, according to Statistics Lithuania.

The statistics office noted that average annual inflation had been on a downward trend since April 2012.

The EU-harmonized annual inflation rate in December was 2.9 percent and the monthly inflation rate was a negative 0.1 percent.

The HICP-measured average 12-month inflation rate is one of the key indicators for countries wishing to join the euro zone.
