An unnamed buyer acquired 12 tons of oil equivalent (toe) of wood chips for 8,300 litas (EUR 2,405), or 690 litas per 1 toe, during the first trading session.
The value of bids submitted by all members totaled 150,000 litas, Laura Žalaitė, CEO of Baltpool, the exchange operator, told BNS.
Five companies, including Timbex, Baltwood, Finnish-owned heat supplier Fortum Ekosiluma, Geco Investicijos and Durpeta, joined the exchange as members in its first four days of operations.
Bionovus, a biofuel supply company controlled by the Lithuanian-owned group Icor, currently holds the largest share of the country's biofuel market. Timbex, the leading wood trade and forest management company, says that it holds the second-biggest share of the market.
