Lithuania's Kelprojektas to work out Liepaja airport's renovation project

Kelprojektas, Lithuania's biggest transport infrastructure engineering company that is controlled by BaltCap, is to work out a project for the renovation of Latvia's Liepaja International Airport, worth nearly 400,000 litas (EUR 116,000).

"For our neighbors Latvians, the airport's renovation is very important. It will help improve the town's image, increase tourist numbers and expand its infrastructure," Kelprojektas' Latvian representative, Arūnas Daugėla, said in a press release.

The project, to be prepared by Kelprojektas and Latvia's Celuprojekts, will involve upgrading and extension of runways, drainage and lighting systems, and renovation of the apron and the aircraft parking area. The project is planned to be completed by the end of 2013.

The airport in western Latvia is one of the country's three main airports.
