Novaturas says that it will be able to offer more direct flights to Lithuania’s travelers and will promote incoming tourism. Starting from Thursday, Novaturas’ flight tickets may be found in all main foreign and domestic flight booking portals.
“It all started with our vision to become a travel agency of an absolutely different generation. Until now our activities have been focused on the Baltic countries. When developing our strategy we thought how we could further expand our business. I have to admit that we have not taken advantage of the potential of direct flights so far,” Novaturas CEO Linas Aldonis said at a news conference on Thursday.
Raimonda Balnienė, director of State Tourism Department, noted that this development was particularly important for Lithuania, which did not have a flagship carrier.
“We do not have a flagship carrier, which puts us behind the Latvians and Estonians ... Meager 6 percent of tourists coming to Lithuania are organized tourists. It is a great opportunity for all,” she said.
Luxembourg-registered Central European Tour Operator held a 70.72 percent stake in Novaturas at the end of 2010.
