Under the draft agreement, the parties will provide each other with certain rights for regular international flights on defined routes.
For example, each party will have the right to designate one or several airline companies notifying the other party thereof in writing. Meanwhile, the other party “shall issue the operating licenses concerned to the designated airline companies immediately” after the receipt of such a notification and an operating license application from the designated airline companies.
Lithuania demands that it should be an airline company controlled by either the Sultanate of Oman or the citizens of that country.
“Such agreements are usually arranged between the states, one of which expresses a wish to start organizing flights,” Transport Deputy Minister, Rimvydas Vastakas, told the daily without denying interest from Oman.
Meanwhile, Alvydas Šumskas, deputy director of Civil Aviation Administration, said that the authority had had no contacts with either Omani authorities or the representatives of air carriers for the meantime.
