Unemployment among men made up 17.8 percent, and among women – 13 percent, it said.
Male unemployment rate shrank by 3.4 points compared to 2010, and female unemployment by 1.4 points. Youth unemployment rate (people aged between 15 and 24) contracted by 2.2 points last year, to 32.9 percent.
The number of jobless people, as estimated by the statistics office, last year declined by 14.5 percent, year-on-year, to 248,800.
Long-term unemployed people accounted for 51.9 percent of all the jobless. The number of people looking for a job for a year or more last year increased by 7 percent, to 129,100.
The number of employed people increased by 27,200, to 1.371 million, the survey showed. The annual increase in the number of employed people was the largest in transport and warehousing (by 9,900) and industry (by 5,300).
Some 91.3 percent of those employed worked full-time last year, and 8.7 percent worked part-time.
The level of employment among those aged between 15 and 64 rose by 2.9 points, to 60.7 percent. The level of employment among men aged 15 to 64 increased by 4.1 points, to 60.9 percent, and among women – by 1.8 points, to 60.5 percent.
In the fourth quarter alone, the unemployment rate in Lithuania shrank by 0.9 points compared with the previous quarter, to 13.9 percent. The unemployment rates among men and women were 15.4 percent and 12.4 percent, respectively.
The number of jobless people declined by 7.4 percent, or 17,700, from the third quarter to 222,100 in October-December.
