The Transport Ministry has worked out and released for public consultation the respective draft law. The passing of the law and the ratification of the agreement will create the legal conditions for regular air services between Lithuania and Georgia.

Currently, air services between the EU and Georgia operate under bilateral agreements between individual member states and the Caucasian country. One of the aims of the EU neighborhood policy is to establish a common aviation area between the EU and its neighbors, according to the document.

The agreement with Georgia was signed in December 2010.
