The rich and stable countries attract an increasing number of Lithuania's building sector companies, but those with a foothold in Scandinavia warn that one has to prepare well for work in the region, because mistakes cost dearly.
Staticus, a facades contractor based in Vilnius, derived most of its revenues in the Scandinavian market last year. The company posted 74.6 million litas (EUR 21.6 m) in sales revenues, of which 37 million litas came from projects in Sweden and 26 million litas from Norway.
Having started with small projects in Scandinavia several years ago, Staticus is now taking part in university construction projects in Norway. Its latest Swedish projects include a musical theater in Jonkoping, an office building in Gothenburg and an arena in Stockholm.
The company has contracts for a year ahead in Sweden and Norway. It is projecting around 80 million litas in revenues this year.
