"There would be no harm either to the environment or to holidaymakers," says Egidijus Gaidamavičius of Timbex, a Lithuanian company.
It is said that the facility would help supply power to the entire town of Neringa.
"This is a source of cheap electricity. That makes this idea very acceptable to us," said Algimantas Vyšniauskas, the director of Neringa's administration.
The initiators of the project say that the wind power park would also help to slow down the process of erosion of the sand dunes of Nida by mitigating the damage done by the sea.
The local government expects to allocate some money for a feasibility study in its 2013 budget. However, it is feared that the idea will meet with resistance, because the so-called biosphere polygon is being created across the coastal land to further restrict human activities in the area.
Similar wave energy parks are built in Scandinavia and off the coasts of Scotland and Portugal.
