Klaipėdos Nafta CEO Rokas Masiulis said in a press release that the total length of the pipeline will be around 20 kilometers, including 3 kilometers under the bottom of the Curonian Lagoon.
Klaipėdos Nafta's management board decided last Friday to sign a contract with Kauno Dujotiekio Statyba and Šiaulių Dujotiekio Statyba. The company has set a shareholder meeting for 25 January to approve the contract.
Klaipėdos Nafta received two final offers in the competitive bidding process. According to information available to BNS, Germany's pipeline designing and construction group PPS Pipeline Systems was the other bidder.
Lithuania expects to build the terminal in Klaipėda by the end of 2014 to obtain a cheaper alternative to Gazprom-supplied Russian gas, which is widely used for heating in the country.
