Lithuanian countryside attracts more tourists

Lithuanian homesteads offering rural tourism services attracted a total of 252,800 visitors last year, 11.1 percent more than in 2010, the country's statistics office said on Friday.

The number of local guests rose by 8.4 percent to 232,200 and the number of foreign visitors surged by 55.8 percent to 20,600, according to preliminary data.

The total number of rural tourism service providers last year increased by 25, or 4.2 percent, to 615, Statistics Lithuania said.
