The new trains will run between Vilnius and Klaipėda and between Vilnius and Minsk, the state railway operator said on Wednesday.

Lietuvos Geležinkeliai spokesman Algis Palionis told BNS that at the moment, he could not disclosed the value of the contract.

"Until the electrification project is completed, two new diesel trains will run to Minsk. Also, one train on the Klaipėda route is nearing the end of its service life," he said.

The trains will run at speeds of up to 140 kilometers per hour and will be adapted for disabled people.

The company expects to put the new trains into service in late May 2013.
