Lithuanian weekly names richest people in the country

The richest person in Lithuania, currently unrivaled by anyone coming even close, is Nerijus Numavičius, owner of 60 percent share in the Vilniaus Prekyba (VP) Group. He tops the list of Lithuania's most affluent individuals compiled by the Veidas weekly.

Counting directly or indirectly managed companies, Numavičius owns around 60 percent shares in all companies constituting the large VP Group, including NDX Energy which is outside the Group. The total holding, according to the financial reports for 2011, is worth around LTL 5.9 billion (EUR 1.7 billion). The most valuable company of the Group is Maxima Group (worth LTL 3.8 billion/EUR 1.1 billion), with Vilnius-based Akropolis shopping mall alone worth approximately LTL 1 billion (EUR 290 million), LETA/ELTA reports.

Second on the list of the richest people in Lithuania are Lyda Lubienė, widow of late Bronislavas Lubys, long-term head of Achema, and his daughters Viktorija Lubytė and Jūratė Zadeikienė whose combined ownership in Achema totals LTL 930 million (EUR 270 million).

Žilvinas Marcinkevičius with 14 percent of VP Group shares (worth LTL 815 million/EUR 236 million) comes third on the list.
