With the start of Vilnius Airport reconstructions, which will cost over 100 million euro, talks are already beginning about closing Vilnius Airport and constructions of a new one. Minister of Transport and Communications Rokas Masiulis believes that if passenger numbers continue rising at the rates they have so far, such a scenario could be inevitable, but it will become clear no sooner than by 2022. According to him, this is long term thinking, rather than concrete decisions.
