New Volkswagens still favourite among Lithuanian drivers

A total of 9,210 new cars were registered in Lithuania in the first eight months of this year, down 7 percent from the year-earlier figure of 9,868, Autotyrimai reports.

In August alone, new car registrations plunged 15 percent, year-on-year, to 1,072 units, the market research company said citing data from the state car registration company Regitra.

The number of new personal cars registered last month declined by 11 percent, year-on-year, to 952 units, and the number of commercial vehicles soared by 38 percent, to 120 units.

In August, Volkswagen held onto its number one position on Lithuania’s new car market with 159 cars registered. Toyota was second with 111 cars while Fiat and Skoda were third with 82 cars each.
