The company might resume negotiations if Lithuania was ready to modify the proposed conditions for the company’s participation in the project of Visaginas Nuclear Power Plant (VNPP), the Polish news portal cire.pl, citing information from the Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, reported PGE vice-president Paul Skowronski as saying.

As reported, discussions with Poland on participation in the VNPP project might be launched before summer. In Skowronski’s opinion, participation in this project would benefit Poland since the electricity market would become common hence it was better to take part in this project.

Energy Minister Arvydas Sekmokas was now visiting Poland, Prime Minister’s spokeswoman, Jarda Paukštienė, confirmed to BNS.

“The minister will be visiting Poland on 14-17 May, where he will attend the European Economic Congress in Katowice”, she told BNS.

Lithuanian Energy Minister Arvydas Sekmokas says that he has no doubts that Poland is considering rejoining the project for building a new nuclear power plant in Lithuania.

"During discussions with our Polish colleagues in Katowice, we returned more than once to the statement made by all three Baltic prime ministers in Lithuania in March that the door should be left be fully open for Poland to join the Visaginas nuclear power plant project. I have to say that the news has been welcomed in Poland. I have no doubt that it is being considered in Poland. There is a clear interest and clear contacts as to how Poland could consider rejoining this project," he told Lithuanian Radio on Wednesday.
