Kubilius visited the plant Hitachi Works in the town of Hitachi, north of Tokyo, on Monday, the prime minister’s press services reports.
He also visited another manufacturing facility, Rinkai Works, where he had a look at large reactor components.
Kubilius is visiting Japan on 19 to 23 February and is scheduled to meet Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda and the country's minister for economy, trade and industry, as well as the heads of Japan Center for Economic Research (JCER) and representatives of energy and financial companies.
Kubilius is to pay a one-day visit to the headquarters of Hitachi, the potential strategic investor in the Visaginas project, where he will be introduced to the group's nuclear technologies and its latest projects.
As part of his Japanese visit, Kubilius is also to meet with the vice-president of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, one of Japan's biggest banks, and with the president of the financial group Sumitomo Mitsui, as well as with other influential Japanese business representatives.
