According to the daily, the Lithuanian Ministry of Transport and Communications has received an offer from Russia to consider faster travels to Kaliningrad via Lithuania.
The ministry said a meeting should be held on the matter, with the date and format yet to be decided.
According to the daily, the Russian side wants the high-speed train to reach Kaliningrad from Moscow in 12 hours, almost twice faster than the current 22 hours. For the Russian idea to take form, it would be necessary to modernize and electrify the existing railway line, build the necessary infrastructure in Kaliningrad, Belarus, and Lithuania.
The Moscow-Kaliningrad route stretches 1,285 kilometers, including 219 kilometers in the territory of Lithuania.
