Latvia ’s BGS bid 10.8 million litas and a consortium of Inland Water Way Directorate and Kaunas company Hidrum bid 9.778 million litas, according to an announcement in the Central Public Procurement Portal.

With both bids deemed too high, the tender had been called off and the port would announce a new dredging tender next week, Airida Česnienė, Šventoji Port Director, confirmed to BNS.

The winner of the tender will have to restore the port’s depth after the winter season in 2012-2014.

Last year the dredging works were carried out by BGS but the company failed to dredge the channel to the design level by the beginning of the winter season.
