Debenhams has been looking at the Baltic countries as a potential market for expansion for several years now.
The Latvian media have quoted Ieva Plaude-Relingere, the founder and former shareholder of Latvia's Kolonna, as saying that the UK chain is eyeing all three Baltic capitals, with plans to invest around 10 million litas in stores in the three cities, as well as in Helsinki.
Debenhams has 161 stores across the UK and Ireland, as well as 61 international franchise stores in 24 countries and six Magasin stores in Denmark.
The chain is likely to enter the Baltic markets through a Latvian franchisee.
