The new company has an authorized share capital of 50,000 litas (EUR 14,500) and is headed by Derek Dupree Magness, according to data from the Center of Registers.
It has been reported that Chevron has already drilled several wells and is now analyzing the composition of Lithuania's shale rock and the possible quantity of methane gas it contains.
Chevron is the second-largest US energy company and the third-biggest in the world. The company plays an important role in US shale gas production and is currently exploring possibilities for producing shale gas in Canada, Poland and Romania.
