Vilnius remains cheaper city than Riga and Tallinn

Vilnius is ranked 148th among the world's most expensive cities for expatriates, remaining a cheaper city to live in than the Latvian and Estonian capitals, the latest survey by Mercer Human Resource Consulting shows.

Riga is ranked 97th and Tallinn is in the 131st position. 

All three Baltic capitals have moved down in the ranking compared to last year, when Vilnius was 133rd, Tallinn was 124th, and Riga 88th.

The Polish capital of Warsaw has dropped to the 153rd position, from the 102nd last year.

Tokyo is the world's most expensive city for expatriates, pushing the Angolan capital of Luanda down to the second position. Osaka is in the third position, up three places from last year, while Moscow remains number four and Geneva number five. The Pakistani city of Karachi remains the world's least expensive city for expatriates.

The ranking measures the comparative cost of housing, transport, food, clothing, household goods and entertainment in a city.
