Armenian president invited to Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius

Lithuania's new Ambassador to Armenia Erikas Petrikas presented Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan with an invitation from President Dalia Grybauskaitė to attend the EU-Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius in November.

At a meeting with the president on Friday, Petrikas also handed his letters of credence to the Armenian leader and discussed EU matters in the run-up to Lithuania's presidency over the EU Council. He noted Lithuania's support to the Euro-integration reforms in progress in Armenia, expressing willingness to continue sharing experience and reinforcing political, economic and cultural partnership between the two countries, the Foreign Ministry said.

The Eastern Partnership initiative covers bilateral and multilateral EU cooperation with Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Moldova, promoting closer ties of the Eastern European nations with the EU.
