10 Years of Grybauskaitė’s Presidency. Winding roads in the West – doubts, honours and gratitude

Dalia Grybauskaitė had hardly been Lithuania’s president for eight months when she blemished relations with Washington, where at that time the Barack Obama administration was in charge.

US diplomats weren’t keen on her style, but later on, it was the grim Russian reality that brought the two sides together. Dalia Grybauskaitė, who in the first term of her presidency sought friends in the East, would come to be respected by leaders of the countries of the EU.
