Blizzards delay flights in Lithuania's airports

Continuing snowstorms in Lithuania have caused some flights to run behind schedule. This, however, is not atypical of the winter season, representatives of the country's airports have said.

On Monday, two flights were cancelled at Vilnius Airport after the Estonian Air’s flight from Tallinn was called off.

“The airline would not provide any details to us. They said, however, that the flights would not be carried out due to technical reasons,” Sandra Šiaulienė, a spokeswoman for Vilnius Airport, told BNS.

Some flights ran somewhat behind the schedule, which, however, was normal for the winter season, she said.

“The flights go as scheduled. There are some delays in winter, but it is normal. I would not say that the delays this year go beyond what is expected,” Šiaulienė said.

Flights in Kaunas and Palanga Airports go largely as scheduled.

The coming few days should bring more snow and still lower temperatures to Lithuania, weather services have said.
