Mr. Finkbeiner has been a US diplomat for over 20 years. Before coming to Lithuania in 2009, he worked in the Economic Sections of the U.S. Embassies in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Rome, Italy (where he also participated in a diplomatic exchange program by working at the Italian Foreign Ministry). He worked earlier at the Department of State in Washington, both in the Office of Russian Affairs and the Office of Economic Sanctions Policy, as well as overseas at the US Consulates in Guayaquil, Ecuador and Guadalajara, Mexico.
