Over 200 fires registered over holidays in Lithuania

209 fires broke out in Lithuania over the long holiday weekend. Six people were killed and another five people were injured in them.

The first tragic fire broke out in a private house in Maželiai village in Anykščiai District, northeastern Lithuania. When firefighters came, the roof had already collapsed. A female body was found in the remains after the fire was put out.

Two people were also killed in fires in Elektrėnai Municipality, west of Vilnius, and Vilnius District, and the sixth person died in a fire in Kaunas District, central Lithuania, according to the Fire and Rescue Department.

Firefighters have also carried out 80 other rescue operations over the long weekend and saved 8 people.
