Sweden appoints new defense attaché to Lithuania

Sweden has appointed a new defense attaché to Lithuania – Lieutenant Colonel Kristian Bouveng will be replaced by Lieutenant Colonel Tapani Aslak Mattus, the Lithuanian Defense Ministry informs.

The accreditation ceremony will take place in Vilnius on Wednesday.

Bouveng took the post in June 2008 and resided in Vilnius. He will receive a defense system medal for merits for his contribution to stronger defense cooperation between Lithuania and Sweden.

Mattus has been serving in Sweden's Armed Forces since 1979 and has worked as defense attaché to Lithuania and Poland in 2007-2008.
