Julius Naščenkovas. V. Landsbergis – the leader of Lithuania, not my president

The matter of Vytautas Landsbergis is being discussed in Seimas – was he the head of the Lithuanian state when independence was restored or not? And if he was – isn’t it the time to recognise him as such officially? Every time that political powers from the right side of the political spectrum are in government, they return to this matter and the current ruling bloc of conservatives and liberals is no exception. Their representatives have registered a project, which proposes to bequeath professor V. Landsbergis the status of head of state. At the centre of our attention are the voiced arguments and withheld reasoning from the proposal’s creators and its opponents.
