The conflict between Belarus and the EU has transitioned into a new stage. With the EU announcing the fourth sanctions package, the Belarusian leadership began exploiting the flows of migrants looking to enter the EU from Iraq and other Middle Eastern countries as a means to pressure Lithuania. This is where solidarity among EU countries becomes crucial for Lithuania, the same solidarity that Southern European countries have been appealing to for a number of years now.
