After speculations on G. Nausėda’s role in the appointment of the military intelligence chief, plans emerge in Seimas to change procedures

During a closed session of the Seimas Committee on National Security and Defence (NSGK) on Wednesday, discussions were held on appointments in the national defence system. This question arose after information surfaced in public that supposedly, President Gitanas Nausėda might have sought to influence the then Minister of National Defence Raimundas Karoblis’ choice of the military intelligence – Second Investigation Department (AOTD) – chief. The NSGK intends to propose changes to current appointment procedures for this position.
