Ex-chief of financial crime investigations appointed to head Lithuania's parliamentary Anti-Corruption panel

Former director of the Lithuanian Financial Crime Investigation Service, Vitalijus Gailius of the Liberal Movement, has been appointed to head the parliamentary Anti-Corruption Commission.

His candidacy was supported by all 12 members of the commission present at Tuesday's meeting. The commission includes a total of 17 parliamentarians.

Edmundas Jonyla of the Social Democrats was elected vice-chairman of the panel.

The appointment of Gailius and Jonyla is yet to be approved by parliament.
