Incumbents not giving up on forming a new coalition: counting every vote in the second round

The ruling “Farmer” leaders Saulius Skvernelis and Ramūnas Karbauskis are in talks with other centre-leftist political parties over supporting one another’s candidates in the second round of Seimas elections. The Lithuanian Farmer and Greens Union (LVŽS) chairman emphasised that of the party’s 33 candidates reaching the second round, only nine could lose if the party wishes to take the lead. At the same time, R. Karbauskis explained that nonetheless, even if they lost, the “Farmers” could nevertheless form a ruling coalition. Opposition representatives explain they are looking at planning a potential coalition somewhat differently.
