"The prosecutor (general) was told in a very clear manner that he is not trusted, therefore, the prosecutor (general) should make decisions and the president should make decisions, as well," Gedvilas said.

"The Seimas was elected by citizens of the Republic of Lithuania, citizens of the Republic of Lithuania voted for this line-up of parliament. This means disrespect of the Seimas and disrespect of the citizens of Lithuania who elected the Seimas," the parliamentary speaker said.

After parliament rejected the 2012 report of operations of the prosecution system on Tuesday, President Dalia Grybauskaitė stated that opinion of the Lithuanian parliament, based on the votes of the Labor Party, which is on trial and has a direct interest in the case, does not serve as sufficient grounds for sacking the chief prosecutor.

"Unconstitutional decisions of the Seimas may lead to politicizing of law-enforcement institutions," Grybauskaitė said to BNS through her senior adviser Daiva Ulbinaitė.
