The steering group is proposed by Kaunas City Council member Gintautas Labanauskas, according to deputy chairwoman of the commission Laura Matjošaitytė.

The politician from Kaunas wants a referendum to vote on the wording that "any information related with promotion of homosexuality should not be published in the media before 10 PM."

Under the law, when the Central Electoral Commission registers a steering group, the group receives special forms for collecting signatures. To call a referendum, initiators must collect signatures of at least 300,000 eligible voters in three months.
