R. Vilpišauskas outlines what reduces the importance of V. Sinkevičius’ office: could be left a deputy’s deputy

The newly elected President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen officially announced on Tuesday that Lithuanian candidate Virginijus Sinkevičius is offered the office of European commissioner for environmental and maritime affairs. While the Lithuanian ruling majority has been celebrating this area of responsibility, political scientist Ramūnas Vilpišauskas emphasises that it is not all that important, furthermore, the main figure responsible for these questions will be someone else in the Commission.
