Algirdas Butkevičius, the leader of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party, says that a mistake was made prior to the Tuesday's parliamentary vote on the Constitutional Court's ruling in connection to election results and the line-up of the Labour Party's candidates.

Speaking to journalists after a meeting of the party's board, Butkevičius said efforts would be made to correct the mistake, adding that the Social Democrats would register an improved draft resolution to be included into the agenda of Wednesday's plenary.

"We respect the Constitutional Court's ruling, and we admitted today that a mistake had been made, a separate legal act will be registered tomorrow to mend the mistake," he said on Tuesday evening.

On Tuesday afternoon, the parliament came short of votes to approve a resolution supporting the court's ruling, which found that priority votes cast for the Labour Party were compromised by vote buying and therefore should not have been approved.
