The Church has written to both Seimas and ministry regarding Romuva: seeking to prevent “rivals”

Circumstances are emerging over what actions the Lithuanian Bishops' Conference (LVK) took in order to prevent the Romuva religious community from being granted state recognised status. Documents found by 15min show that the Church sought to not only convince members of Seimas, but also the Ministry of Justice to change its decisions.

That members of Seimas received a letter from the clergy is nothing new. MP Rimantas Jonas Dagys announced about it being received on June 27, when the final vote on granting the status to Romuva was held in Seimas.
