The cost of good relations with Poland – millions to an oil group and support for the Prime Minister’s circle

Saulius Skvernelis’ cabinet has made a number of decisions that benefitted the oil giant Orlen Lietuva. Among other things, this group received orders from the state valued in the millions, the conditions of which were changed to suit the group’s demands. Afterward, Orlen Lietuva financially supported basketball clubs owned by businesspeople in S. Skvernelis’ circle.

The Polish state group Orlen Lietuva, which owns the oil refinery in Mažeikiai is the largest company in the Baltic States with its turnover last year reaching around five billion euro. However, the group also faced serious issues.
