With the COVID-19 pandemic shaking the world at the beginning of 2020, the promise of economic growth also collapsed in Lithuania as well. Instead, it was necessary to resign to massive unexpected expenses and fall deeper into debt. Alongside a number of economists, 15min has sought to find out the tangible and intangible cost of the COVID-19 pandemic: how much treating the sick cost, bonuses for medics and also the cost of business and other areas’ support. In the future, this cost might have to include reduced birth rates and neglected chronic illnesses.
