On March 2017, when Seimas Speaker Viktoras Pranckietis received a note from the State Security Department (VSD) with instruction to not grant member of Seimas Mindaugas Bastys a permit to work with classified information, he did not delay, Conservatives MP Laurynas Kasčiūnas says. The non-classified VSD note “On member of Seimas Mindaugas Bastys’ review” was submitted to V. Pranckietis on March 8, 2017. The document reached the news media on March 9th. Already on that day, the Seimas speaker urged M. Bastys to resign from the office of Seimas vice speaker.
