After the fire in Alytus, the Seimas National Security and Defence Committee (NSGK) went into review of the civil security system’s flaws. The Fire and Rescue Department (PAGD) explained that the fire was not viewed as being of the highest category because the Ekologistika building was not included on the list of dangerous objects. Meanwhile, the vice minister in charge of civil security knew nothing of the fire for a week, being on a work trip.

Deputy director for the Fire and Rescue Department Mindaugas Kanapickas emphasised that the fire could only be recognised as a state level emergency if more than five people die due to it, if the situation lasts longer than half a year or if it involves more than three municipalities.
