VSD director D. Jauniškis: All candidates’ teams were investigated to an extent

State Security Department (VSD) director Darius Jauniškis says that there was no basis for a scandal to erupt over the VSD supposedly gathering information about the team of G. Nausėda during his presidential bid and about diplomat Vygaudas Ušackas. D. Jauniškis stated that the VSD’s function is to seek out foreign countries’ influence on the elections and in this context, the candidates’ teams can also be investigated. That said, according to the VSD chief, such information could not be gathered at the request of the candidates or presented to their rivals.
